If there is an Arduino MEGA, then there should be a MEGAshield

Hi, I just saw the picture of the Arduino MEGA featured in hack-a-day

If there is an Arduino MEGA, then for sure you need a MEGAshield. Here are some pictures of the NKC MEGAShield:

Half Stackable MEGAShield = Monster MEGAShield (As called by ladyada)

I installed long legged 6-pin and 8-pin headers to make the Arduino MEGAshield stackable on the left half side (legacy Arduino side?). Here are some pictures:

  1. […] folks over at NKC electronics didn’t waste any time with this one. They sent in the MEGA shield for the Arduino MEGA. We just posted the story of the Arduino MEGA yesterday, so that was pretty […]

Very Nice, but only 2 holes matching the Arduino?

  3. admin says:

@TalkingJazz: There are so many pins, that you actually don’t need any holes to fix this board to the MEGA!!! I added 2 just in case somebody is sending the combo (MEGA+Shield) to the space.

  4. Harvie says:

There are problem with attaching shields to the regular arduinos (because of badly soldered connectors – they are not in one straight line). How is it with arduino mega where are three connectors in row instead of two?

  5. admin says:

No improvements in the alignment of the connectors

What you really need to do is modify the megashield so it can interface with the standard arduino shields that are already in production.

  12. admin says:

@Joe, you can use the long legged pin headers and mount the existing shields on top of the MEGAshield. I will post some pictures. Excellent idea, thanks!!!

@Joe, i posted new pictures showing how you can make this MEGAshield stackable (I made it half stackable, half conventional… you could go 100% stackable if you need).

I get it. You have a huge aperture. You have the biggest aperture around.

Now, can you show some modesty and post some pictures with a better DoF?

  17. Mic says:

This stuff is getting seriously streamlined and sleek. Nice.

  18. admin says:

@rox0r, what is wrong about focusing on the features that I want to show? Anyways, it is not a matter of showing off my camera, I don’t have a good light, so I am using Full auto mode, with flash and as close as possible to the object, so I don’t need to do any clipping and editing, except for reducing the size and enhancing the picture with AUTO-COLOR in Irfanview. I am not good taking pictures, and I am not an artist. Sorry.

I don’t get it. I get (and have) the Arduino. I get shields. What does this one DO? It’s a proto board for people to build other things (that presumably do something?)

  21. admin says:

The ProtoShield is the most popular shield of all the shields I sell. It allows arduino users to create more “permanent” projects compared to breadboards.

But basically is a protoboard suited for Arduino. Some say that it’s own existence is because of the odd separation between digital pins 7 and 8.

Sorry, I was half-kidding. Some of the full board shots don’t show off the whole board.

But if/when you want to open up your DoF, if you have even a cheap tripod or mini-tripod, you can do a long exposure shot with a smaller aperture. Use the 10-second delay mode to take the shot. If you do have cheap optics, you’ll generally get a sharper shot anyway stepped down a bit.

How do you place a mini-breadboard in the middle when there’s a reset switch and 2×3 header there?.
